RGE is aware that the future success of the company is firmly seated in Research and Development. We have in house appearance and design engineers, using solid works and other leading CAD software packages.

We can work with clients on concept design, progress to SLA, SLS models, together with the capability to produce fast track development tools for rapid modelling as necessary.

 

Once the criteria for appearance, mechanical strength, performance and cost have been established, and detail design completed, a tooling programme commences. In order to produce a quality component in the optimum time, the mould tool can be manufactured for the customer quickly and efficiently by e-mailing 3D files to ' tooling@rgegroup.com '. This enables RGE to manipulate the data and transfer the mould manufacturing information into RGE's UK, Portuguese & Chinese tooling plants.

RGE has in-house test facilities for both product development and quality control. All these functions operate within the guidelines of the internationally acclaimed quality standard, ISO 9001 (design, engineering and administration).

FEA and Moldflow analysis

RGE has a number of software packages in-house to produce detailed structural characteristics prior to design release. Coupled with support from the largest material suppliers of plastic in the World RGE is able to analyse all elements of a design before prototyping stage and accurately predict tool design before tool sign-off and GA approval.

Prototype - Plastic design to Prototype

RGE takes careful consideration in the creation of plastic design prototypes for structural, assembly and visual design approvals. RGE has considerable experience in prototyping plastic parts for the furniture industry creating prototypes rapidly in a customised CNC process.

Solid plastic blocks of material are used as building materials for individual plastic components. By using the correct material and machining the exact component from the plastic solid block RGE is able to produce a finished design that can be fully evaluated prior to any tool steel being cut. RGE has made many different parts in this way leading to a significantly shortened design and development lead time and in some cases FIRA approval of structural furniture components prior to tool start.
