End of Life Recycling

RGE Group are committed to promoting sustainable manufacturing through efficient and responsible plastic recycling, creating reground material to be used again to mould new products as part of our push for a circular economy for plastics. Currently, we mostly recycle post-industrial plastic waste, as well as post-consumer products that have become damaged, old, or worn. This solution reduces landfill, reclaims valuable materials, and supports innovation to reduce needless plastic waste.

The Regrind Centre
Plastics are brought to the Regrind Centre at our site in Whittlesey to be sorted and broken down using a range of plastic regrind machinery. This allows us to use more sustainable alternatives to virgin plastics and ensuring that old plastic does not end up in landfill.
At the Regrind Centre, we process customer products, as well as our own worn or damaged material handling products used in our factories. The facility is capable of processing PP, ABS, PA, TPE, and PBT + PET, and will be expanding to grind other plastics as they become available. We are proud to be able to offer this service, and give a new and sustainable lease of life to old plastics.

Step 1 - Inspection and Sorting
Incoming plastic waste is visually inspected and sorted by polymer type, colour, and contamination level.
Step 2 - Metal Detection and Removal
Metals are removed using magnets and eddy current separators to protect grinding equipment and ensure purity.
Step 3 - First Stage Grinding
Materials are fed into a primary granulator, reducing large parts or sprues into manageable flakes.
Step 4 - Second Stage Grinding
A fine granulator further processes the flakes into uniform granules or pellets ready for re-use in injection moulding.
Step 5 - Quality Testing
Melt flow index (MFI), density, moisture content, and visual quality checks are performed to ensure consistency and traceability.

Recycling Your Plastic Waste
RGE offer a buy back service, designed to provide a solution for the waste of old plastic products or extra stock. The stock is shipped back to RGE to be recycled at our Regrind Centre, creating recycled plastic material which can then be reused in the production of new products or goods parts.

This service encourages our customers to make use of our growing recycling facility as part of our plastic regeneration division, with the aim of providing a new lease of life to plastics that would otherwise have been needlessly discarded.

Whilst RGE is committed to reducing our own environmental impact, we believe it is crucial that we provide our customers with the opportunity to do the same, pushing for change within the plastics industry and extending the benefits of our continued investment in the Regrind Centre.

Quality Control

Whether it be the parts we produce or the service we provide – quality matters. Our team will work with you to understand the quality requirements of your mould tool and end product.

RGE pioneered use of the award-winning ThingTrax machine monitoring system - used to monitor the efficiency of our factories. Our QC team carry out pre-production tests on the raw material using Melt Flow Index (MFI) equipment to ensure it meets the requirements for the job. Tests carried out on mouldings throughout the production run include checks on the colour using a Spectrophotometer or Lightbox, as well as ensuring the parts measure within the agreed tolerances using a Co-Ordinate Measuring Machine (CMM). Learn more here

RGE is certified to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 across our UK and Europe sites.

Whether it be the parts we produce or the service we provide – quality matters. Our team will work with you to understand the quality requirements of your mould tool and end product. Here at RGE, this is achieved using a combination of systems and processes. Alongside use of a leading ERP system, our QC team carry out both pre-production tests on the raw material, and throughout the production run on the mouldings. Learn more here.
